  26. Follow these steps:
  27.  
  28.  1. Look in your modem manual to find out the command to turn off the
  29.     speaker.  It is usually something like ATM0.
  30.  
  31.  2. Give this command to your modem prior to dialing.
  32.  
  33. If you want the speaker always to be off, then you can add the ATM0
  34. command to your Kermit dialing script, or (if you modem allows this), you
  35. can save the modem's configuration after turning off the speaker -- the
  36. method for this depends on your modem (again, look in your modem manual).
